Welcome

We are glad that you found us and that you are here.

We are a progressive, welcoming and inclusive congregation seeking both to know Christ and to make Christ known to people from all walks of life.

We pray that we will become better acquainted with you.

Worship Times

We meet for worship at 10am on Sundays, year-round.

All are welcome, both visitors and members alike. Please join us and let us know of your presence.

Church school is available for kindergarten and up and child care is provided in the nursery for children four and under.

For more information, visit our Children’s Ministry page, or continue to the “Family Information” provided below.

When you arrive on a Sunday Morning…

You’ll be welcomed at the door by a Greeter who will hand you a program for the morning worship. There are no assigned seats.

Hymnals and Bibles are in the back of the pew, or underneath your seat depending on where you are sitting.

Most Sundays, music is provided by our talented WPC Choir accompanied by organ or piano and occasional guest instrumentalists.

There will be hymns, prayers and a 15-20 minute message by our pastor or a visiting minister.

Communion is celebrated twice a month, on the first and third Sundays. We alternate between serving people in their seats and inviting people to come forward to receive the bread and cup. On those Sundays, the children will come back in to receive Communion with their families. All are welcome to the table.

The first Sunday of each month is also “Wild Goose Sunday”, an intergenerational communion service where children remain in the service and we do things a bit differently. We are following the lead of the “Wild Goose,” a name for the Holy Spirit in Celtic Christianity, by trusting God enough to try something different and discover new places we wouldn’t have found if we hadn’t followed God’s calling. You wont want to miss it, you never know what might happen!

Our service lasts approximately an hour. Following worship, we hope that you will join us at Fellowship Hour. This is a gathering with coffee, tea, juice, great snacks and wonderful conversation and often takes place in Parish Hall, through the Narthex (foyer) and to your right. Always, there is a warm welcome for newcomers.

A single-use, gender inclusive restroom is in the hall directly left of the sanctuary. Additionally, gender-specific restrooms can be found by following the hallway to the back of the building, then turning left (follow signage). The closest door to the front of the sanctuary, leads to a stairwell and fire exit.

Family information

We are child friendly! Quiet, fussy, loud, restless and calm children are all welcome throughout the worship service. Everyone is together for the first part of the service, through the Opening Hymn or the Children’s Message if there is one. Children may participate in the Children’s Message by coming forward to the front of the church when invited, or by staying right where they are.

Following the Opening Hymn or Children’s Message, Children ages pre-K through 7th grade are welcome to join other children and their leaders in Church School. Church School is, of course, optional, so if children would rather stay in worship, that is great! Parents are also invited to go with them to church school if they’d prefer. Following Church School, children return for the last part of worship. On the first Sunday of the month, children remain for the “Wild Goose Sunday” service.

An infant and toddler nursery is available from the beginning of worship. If you’d like to have your infant(s) or toddler(s) in nursery during worship, follow the hallway toward the back of the building to the Nursery. It will be on your right. The Greeters will be happy to direct you.

ARE THERE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS?

There is no dress code, and no requirements. You will find people dressed in suits and ties and others in jeans or leggings. Some children even come in sports attire so they can attend before hitting the field.

You don’t have to be Presbyterian to attend — there are people of all backgrounds here. Come as you are, exactly as you are.

Bring your questions, your doubts, your yearning and feel the presence of a loving God.

BEYOND SUNDAY MORNING. . .

We offer many other ways to “be the church,” whether it’s going on an evening to serve the homeless in NYC, gathering for Bible study, packing meals for Rise Against Hunger, attending a class or workshop, or volunteering at the local Food Pantry.

You don’t have to “belong” to participate in any of our programs. Simply being present as a community is a wonderful way for us to live out our faith. To grow your faith even more, we hope that you will consider being a part of the broader life of Wilton Presbyterian Church (WPC). If you have questions, contact the church office and we can direct you to the best answers.

For any assistance on Sunday morning, please reach for one of the Greeter you met on your way in. You may also reach for our Office Manager, Alison Wood, or one of our Pastors, Rev. Jessica Jones, Rev. Mark Montgomery, or Rev. Chris Tate.
