When you arrive on a Sunday Morning…

You’ll be welcomed at the door by an usher who will hand you a program for the morning worship. There are no assigned seats.

We are child friendly! Children ages pre-K and up attend the first part of the service with parents, and then, after a children’s message, go to their own program, called Church School. (If kids are feeling shy, parents can go with them or kids can stay in the service). Infants and toddlers may stay with parents or go directly to the nursery upon arrival (We have 2 trained professionals attending to their needs). An usher will be happy to direct you.

Most Sundays, music is provided by our talented WPC Choir accompanied by organ or piano and occasional guest instrumentalists. There will be hymns, prayers and a 10-15 minute message by our pastor or a visiting minister.

Communion (Lord’s Supper) is celebrated once a month, usually the first Sunday. We alternate between serving people in their seats and inviting people to come forward to receive the bread and cup. On those Sundays, the children will come back in to receive Communion with their families. All are welcome to the table.

Our service lasts an hour. After the service, there is “Coffee Hour” to which all are invited. Always, there is a warm welcome for newcomers.

ARE THERE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS?

You will find people dressed in suits and ties and others in jeans. Some children even come in sports attire so they can attend before hitting the field. There is no dress code, and no requirements. You don’t have to be Presbyterian to attend — there are people of all backgrounds here. Come as you are, exactly as you are. Bring your questions, your doubts, your yearning and feel the presence of a loving God.

BEYOND SUNDAY MORNING. . .

We offer many other ways to “be the church,” whether it’s going on an evening to serve the homeless in NYC; gathering for Bible study; attending one of our alternative services; joining us for our monthly Burger and Beer with the Boys, or Dining with the Divas; attending a class or workshop; or volunteering at the local Food Pantry. Browse the website and check out all the possibilities for involvement at WPC. You don’t have to “belong” to participate in any of our programs. We welcome all ages!
