Midnight Run is a mission of hospitality which coordinates over 1,000 relief missions per year. Volunteers from churches and other civic groups distribute food, clothing, blankets, and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City. The late-night relief efforts create a forum for trust, sharing, and understanding. This human exchange, rather than the exchange of goods, is the essence of the Midnight Run mission, forging a bond between housed and homeless people by establishing a foundation of sharing and caring from which solutions may evolve.
There are many opportunities to get involved, including:
1) Donate food or clothing to be distributed
2) Prepare food for the Run in the Undercroft (the space under the sanctuary)
3) Deliver the food and clothing to those who need it
4) Clean-up the next morning
Thank you for your support!
Note about clothing donations:
We need both men’s and women’s items, but we have limited space, so only donate the items listed in the signup genius. We need a variety of sizes that are appropriate to the season, and no suit, formal wear, or high heels needed.
Please tape shoes together and mark all items with the size on a piece of masking tape so the correct size can be easily located by the people that need them.
