The Fairfield County Response Team is happy to announce that it will be honoring WPC at our first-ever fundraising event to be held at Waveny House in New Canaan on Thursday, October 12th from 6-8:30 pm. Aside from bountiful refreshments, there will be a keynote speaker, Todd Blyleven, a former professional athlete, who was present during the shootings in Las Vegas and risked his life to rescue potential victims. He will describe his experience, then moderate a panel of local First Responders who will address their own issues around traumatic events, their mental health repercussions , and the help they sought. The evening will end with a raffle and a live auction.
FCTRT is an organization of 28 trauma-trained clinicians who volunteer their time to educate First Responders around trauma and to offer the appropriate treatment when necessary. We are present following mass disasters, and are frequently called in to do debriefings at individual departments after particularly toxic calls. Much of this work is offered pro bono as part of our mission.
WPC has been a long-time supporter of this work, both spiritually and financially. Some may remember the presentation of a Norwalk firefighter and retired paramedic during our “Minute for Mission”.
We are honored to have both Mark and Jessica attend to accept the award on behalf of our church, and we urge you to consider attending to support them , as well as the First Responders from our communities who risk their lives every day to protect us.
